Amendu also talked to Chris Caruso, who is part of the Poverty Initiative at Union Theological Seminary. This audio piece captures some of their reflections on the Leadership School. Wes Harris Explains the Troubled Past of the West Virginia Coal Mines
Wes Harris explained the situation in which many coal miners of the time experienced, and in which some are still experiencing today. He also explained the need for unionizing, and the power it can bring. This radio piece was edited by Matt Johnson & produced by Kimora Lamonte, who are both members of the Philadelphia Student Union. It aired on PSU's youth-produced radio show, On Blast.

Organizing Across Race Lines: From Ridgeville to Ridge's Mansion!
Willie Baptist, a leader in the movement to end poverty, shares some of his experiences working with the Kensington Welfare Rights Union in Philadelphia. Much of the work that the KWRU did relied on its being a cross-racial movement, and Mr. Baptist explains how deep racial divisions are overcome when the focus is put on people's common struggles. This interview was recorded during the Leadership School by Dan Jones, a member of the Philadelphia Student Union, for the radio show On Blast.
